LFT Survey Calling all hotels and campsites!

01.07.2026Market research

How satisfied are you with the season so far? Are you optimistic about the outlook for the months to come? Have you experienced cancellations due to the impact of geopolitical conflicts, extreme weather, or other reasons?

LFT has been conducting the Hotel and Campsite Survey since 2020. The purpose is to assess the current state of demand and the outlook for the next months, as well as the key challenges and opportunities in the industry more broadly.

“Over the years, the survey has turned out to be a very useful tool for LFT but also for tourism stakeholders and actors,” says Alain Krier, Head of Insights & Strategy at LFT.

LFT conducts the survey approximately every six weeks, and hotels and campsites take part directly only, and the results are anonymous. Participation is also easy: it takes between 5 and 8 minutes to complete the online questionnaire.

More participants: more accurate results

The survey is not just about occupancy rates but also seeks the opinions of hoteliers and campsite managers relating to context such as leisure and business events as well as spending patterns, turnover, and the impact of events or external factors.

“We conduct this survey so that we can provide the most accurate picture to tourism stakeholders and to the press, who also regularly ask us for data on how the tourism season is evolving," says Mr. Krier.

It is important to hear from the tourism actors themselves to receive both qualitative and quantitative data. The results are anonymized and only published in aggregate form as part of the LFT Quarterly Report. LFT shares the results with everyone as per its open policy in market research.

“We generally receive around 50 hotels and 15-20 campsites each survey wave. We have a loyal basis of around 80-90% of hotels and campsites that participate in each survey wave, which is important for consistency. But we welcome and encourage more hotels and campsites to participate for the survey to provide even more representative results,” says Mr. Krier.

A good sample is necessary, as the quality of the output rises and falls with the number of participants. Many hotels in the city take part, but we count fewer across the regions, and the goal is to provide a more balanced view of the hotels and campsites across the five touristic regions.

In addition, many of the new establishments that opened within the last two years do not yet participate, and we want to be sure that they know about the surveys and that the right person receives the mailing each time.

LFT sends an invitation to fill out the survey by email in French and German. Important! If you would like to make sure you are on our Hotel & Campsite Survey mailing list, please email info@visitluxembourg.com or alain.krier@lft.lu.

The next survey wave will be launched by mid-July.
