This quarterly report highlights the solid performance of the past year, a slight slowdown at the start of 2026 and an encouraging outlook.
Growth in 2025
Luxembourg for Tourism recorded 1.60 million arrivals in paid accommodation (up 2% on 2024; up 18% on 2019) and 3.59 million overnight stays (down 2% on 2024). Hotels stand out with a 3% increase in arrivals and a RevPAR of €115 (up 2%), driven by Luxembourg City (RevPAR €115.1, up 2.3%). The source markets such as Italy (+31%), India (+19%), France (+18%), the US (+13%) and Portugal (+11%) are driving this momentum, with a 4% overall increase in international arrivals.
Leisure sites are up by 8% and museums by 1%, while tourist offices show mixed results (down 5% in Luxembourg City, up 5% elsewhere). Luxembourg outperforms the European average in the shoulder seasons (spring/autumn) in a context of heightened price sensitivity and shorter stays; travel spending in Europe is up by 10%.
Early 2026 (provisional)
In January, arrivals fell by 4 to 5% in hotels, 4% on campsites and 10% in youth hostels, with an overall decline in international travel of 6%. Hotel occupancy fell to 56% (down 2 pts), ADR remained stable at €139 and RevPAR at €78 (down 2 pts).
LFT hotel survey
Occupancy forecasts remain stable in February (61%) but drop slightly in March/April (down 1 pt per month), with regional disparities: a drop in the North-East, stability in the South Guttland region, and growth in Luxembourg City. Business travel is expected to outperform leisure travel, especially in the capital; 58% of hotel owners remain optimistic for 2026 (up 4 pts).
Main challenges: high costs, bureaucracy, and lack of staff.
Opportunities: leisure events, new customer segments, improved infrastructure and strengthened marketing.
Searches and bookings
Future hotel searches are up by 15% (+20% business, +11% leisure), but bookings are only up by 2%, pointing to untapped potential.
Flights: searches +9%, bookings +10%, and air capacity +10% from March to July.
Campsites: bookings from March to August are up 11%, a double-digit increase from Belgium and Germany.
Outlook for 2026–2027
International travel: +8% global arrivals, +6% from Europe. Luxembourg: International arrivals are up 2% in 2026 (leisure +1%, business +3%; long-haul +4%, short-haul +2%); up 3% in 2027. International spending: up 6% in 2026. Stronger growth from Belgium, Germany, and Italy.
