Where can I work as a tourist guide in Luxembourg?

The regional tourism offices (ORT) and the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) offer the opportunity to work as a guide in their respective regions and in Luxembourg City. These bodies organize additional training to provide specific knowledge of the regions and the city.

The activity as a tourist guide is carried out under an agreement with the respective ORT or the LCTO. Agreements can be signed with several ORTs in order to conduct guided tours in different regions of the country.

In addition, many other players in the tourism sector — museums, nature parks, etc. — also offer opportunities to work as a guide.

The possibilities are numerous, varied, and enriching: every place, every encounter, every tour is a new adventure to share!

In Luxembourg, the activity of a tourist guide can be practiced freely: no mandatory training is required to start as an independent guide.

What happens after completing the basic training for tourist guides?

After completing the basic training provided by the House of Training and passing the final exam, you will receive a certificate. This certificate confirms the acquisition of fundamental knowledge about Luxembourg as a tourist destination and is a real asset for starting your career as a tourist guide.

When is the next regional training in my chosen region?

You will find all information about the regional modules on tourismacademy.lu or on the regional websites. The next training sessions in the regions Guttland, Éislek, Mullerthal, Moselle and the Minett will be organized in 2026 and 2027.

Is training necessary to become a tourist guide in Luxembourg?
